Re: DCS: Supercarrier Landing Practice mission F-14 and F/A-18

Alas I did not get a chance to check the 20 mile birds. Will test tomorrow if I have time.

Re: DCS: Supercarrier Landing Practice mission F-14 and F/A-18

I know from the stock Case I missions that came with SC you can set them at 20 miles. Or, at least you ought to be able to do so. Otherwise, what you're proposing is doable. We should be able to work with that even if we have to separate for a mile out of the stack to set up and then re-enter. Not a...

Re: Flight times

I have a grocery delivery arriving between five and six, but then I'm making a vegetable soup with it before stuff that I have in my fridge goes bad. Poor planning in a hectic, pandemic world. So, I think that I won't be on until at least 9 PM, if at all. If I don't make it on tonight, I'll be aroun...

Re: Voice attack/Viacom

The Vaicom plug-in is reasonably priced. It's like $20 USD after conversion. I may do this and mess around with it when I get the chance.

There is a process by which you can provide the license for a module to another in the form of a gift. So, if I had a module I didn't want or I had an extra copy of a module, I could give someone the license for that copy.

Re: Supercarrier, who has and does not have?

There is some funky rule ED is implementing where you can land on the new Nimitz class and take off but you don't have the deck crew or something weird? I dunno. Not sure that applies to the Russian stuff in SC as well.

Re: CW Lemoine flies the MiG-21

meh...blah....I prefer better pulp like Tom Clancy or Stephen Coonts. I'm intrigued by Kevin Miller's work which can be found here. I might pick up some of his work and read it. Supposed to be pretty good.

PVP NTTR Mission Edits/Recommendations

So, now that we have a good template for a PVP mission, some of you had suggestions for improving it. 1. I know Bones suggested air starts. What distance should I set the air starts from X-Ray on the NTTR Map? What altitude? 2. Hammer suggested creating client planes with IR missiles and with guns o...

Re: Flight times

Tonight we're training PVP dogfighting, guns only and then maybe guns and IR only. We're also training carrier landings with the new SC.

The Wall of Shame/Fame: Post your LSO Grades Here!

Well, I did it. Wasn't pretty, but finally managed to use trim to approximate...something. Hey, I got on center line and finally trapped without being waved off by SC's new LSO system! Re: CW Lemoine flies the MiG-21

I think it really depends on what people are flying, but yes the MiG-21 would required some real skill to fly against someone in a jet as advanced as the F/A-18. It would be a challenge even against the F-14, but not impossible. A better matchup would be against the Mirage, perhaps. The Harrier? Edi...

Re: A-10C Version II. TBD

Right, this would be a more serious mission requiring everyone's cooperation and willingness to wait their turn in the frag order. Placing the FARP close to the target zone and establishing a situation where there is limited air defenses due to previously conducted missions would make it doable and ...

Re: A-10C Version II. TBD

Again, I disagree. I think it's a matter of planning and arrangement of assets on the map and tasking. Obviously, you don't want to send choppers into an SAM and heavy fighter environment. You'll need to clear all that out first. But, like in the persistent mission, once the skies are relatively cle...
