Re: Through the Inferno, Caucasus

I put 8 on the Supercarrier (not sure it is the Roosevelt). There were just 2. We can do that, I do not think we need to scale down red air but we would have to see how that plays out. If intended for A2A practice, maybe NTTR (unless someone posts they do not have it) for red vs. blue although I und...

Re: Throttle to go with the new joystick you are about to order!

OK, digging around for throttles, VKB has not been idle recently: https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product=gladiator-k I wish this was around when I did my stuff (upgraded Gladiator to this), I ended up spending more money - but I have had it for at least a year now so there you go. And these are in stoc...

Through the Inferno, Caucasus

I am essentially done getting this ready for us. I had to add some more F/A-18C slots on the carrier as there were only 2 of those. I also added another F-14 slot for a total of 2. I cleaned up some of the spawn-able land based aircraft as well and made the numbers correct for our group as well as t...

Mon, 7/6, Another bunker

Situation: this conflict is nearing its end, but the enemy is very stubborn. We have decided to hit a personal target of the enemy leader, a $450 million "pleasure" yacht. This ship is located near Bandar Lengeh and is actually hidden in a military grade protective bunker. The ship itself is equippe...

Re: DCS Spotting and Somewhat of Fix?

Then there is just the plain limitation of being in an artificial environment as well. In my flying experience, limited as it is, I found orientation and spotting to just be easier than in the game.

Re: after Snowfox

It does auto-spawn missions, and we can ask it to spawn missions we want. It ends up being very similar to Snowfox, just a different method to get there. I think the answer is to spawn a mission on Thu, for example, and do the mission data for Mon. Or spawn 2-3 missions on Thu to prepare for Mon and...

Re: after Snowfox

Yah - i think the methods I outlined above will work for our recent mission night template.

My opinion is to try Through the Inferno to see how we we like it while waiting on Surrexen to complete the rewrites of his missions. I will ping him to see how it is going.

Re: 7/1, Bunker Buster Battle Damage Assessment

Yes, recce/photo recon pods would be awesome to have. In the two times I have flown those (self-designated) recon missions I liked it.

Re: DCS Spotting and Somewhat of Fix?

Well, if we combine normal dots, i.r. red and blue, with scaling the size of the dots (perhaps the inverse of what Wipeout currently has) it may work to level the playing field a bit. Often, when dots appear, you cannot tell red from blue immediately.

Re: Debrief Operation Snowfox 07.01.20

I have to do the turtle thing too in some of the aircraft i fly.

SU-33 to see the top of the rpm gauge for correct power during carrier landing is one that stood out to me last night (while testing Through the Inferno).

Nice writeup. thx.

Re: after Snowfox

they have it for all maps (as noted in what we need to decide). not sure we could do red flag, but perhaps similar. this mission dynamically spawns objectives/targets, including actual targets, while you fly the mission. this is in contrast to Surrexen's missions where the targets are in place alrea...

Re: after Snowfox

I tested Through The Inferno a bit tonight. Seems like this might cover a bit of everything, I can even do carrier Ops with you Navy guys (friendly Kuznetsov). It has both versions, with and without Supercarrier. A LOT of options to set up, but it is not difficult. Enough spots can be added to cover...

Re: DCS Spotting and Somewhat of Fix?

FWIW, I do not believe resolution is the issue. People that have high resolution monitors also complain about spotting and rendering issues. I recall in our research that 1920x1080, HD, seemed to be the best resolution (it is for many, many video games).

Re: 7/1, Bunker Buster Battle Damage Assessment

Operations is currently reviewing the previous mission data. Current findings are the IP for this mission was not optimal; part of the recon was to find an IP that will lead to a better ingress vector to the target. Coordinates of the bunkers themselves are also being confirmed. It was not without s...
