Re: Division 2 Warlords of NY Edition on sale, $27.99.

I saw it and grabbed it.

Also got the free copy of D1 that Uplay had. Will get to that at SOME point, after we finish D2 and the NY expansion I guess.

Also the new DLC for GRBP is out, maybe we should try having the 4 of us do that one night?

Re: Wed, 9/16/2020

The update has been pushed back a week, so we don't need to worry about it for tomorrow.

Re: Wed, 9/16/2020

The difference between the AA and AG stuff makes it more helpful to concentrate on the AG then, especially as it's all too common to get nailed by a SAM while in the middle of dueling with a MiG or Flanker. Unfortunately, the SA-13 is not really eligible for a HARM assault, but if you have exact coo...

Re: Grifter and Hammer status this week

If we have the same turnout as the last few weeks, then we would indeed be rather lonely Wed with 2 more missing.

However, I see no need for a preemptive cancellation. We will see on Wed night who can make it and decide then.

I don't think the score will live up to the 84 one, though.

Re: Training Flights 082420

So that means you have to pass your weapon code to JTAC or any one else who would buddy lase for you? Or is there supposed to be prearranged setups before the flight so if "Cowspanker 02" says they're in the area the JTAC or whoever else may have a pod will know what to change their code to automati...

This appears to be a smaller hotfix, mostly focused on the Syria map and campaigns (which were new last update).

Re: Mon 8/24, training

The radar might be able to lock you at that range, but the missile itself shouldn't be capable of threatening you, any more than launching an ICBM at a town a mile away would be feasible.

Re: Training Flights 082420

When you say the code can't be changed, you mean the code used by the pod when lasing, not the ones on the weapons used to track, right? That way the LGBs or Mavs or whatever can be locked onto someone else's laser at the last second, but whatever code your laser is at launch is what you're stuck wi...

Re: Mon 8/24, training

I think the tracking radars do indeed have a backup search ability that is far less effective, but if you're inside the range of a Sidearm it can do it no problem.

Re: NFO's are awesome

No, the pilot can't use the radar missiles BVR at all. There might be a way to fire them AFTER the RIO does all the work, but at best I think the pilot can only lock targets on radar using ACM inside 10 miles...or is it 5? I think things like navigation, ECM, and others might also be wholly dependen...

I recall something about the Canaanites, but that might be outside the eras DCS simulates. The Beqaa Valley "turkey shoot" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Mole_Cricket_19 "The battle lasted about two hours, and involved innovative tactics and technology. By the end of the day, the IAF had de...

There is definitely more to do in the back, partly because it's just not enabled in the front. Can't even if you want to.

Re: Clearfield 081920

Ideally, the SA-10 needs a two-axis attack offset by at least 90 degrees if not more to limit the threat to both axes. That way if it launches on the western attacker the same missiles can't threaten the eastern ones, or whatever.

Re: New Syria Map

When all we had was the A-10 and Ka-50 it was pretty easy to be proficient in both, especially as the didn't have radars! FC3 brought a bunch of planes, but the Russian birds all used the same radar, the Su-25/T used the same Shkval as the Ka-50, and the F-15C wasn't too deep either. It was years af...

Re: Dynamic Campaign will come eventually

You don't need a separate machine. I used to host DCS on my PC with Panzer, Grifter, and Hammer all connecting and flying while I was too. It's better to have the ded server in case whoever would normally have hosted is absent or late, but it's not a requirement. Same with Il-2 and RoF and other MP ...
