Re: Your personal top 10 shows/mini-series

Lost and Heroes were great in the beginning but, to borrow a quote, "lived long enough to become the villain." Heroes turned around fast, S1 was amazing, S2 was ok, by S3 people were leaving in droves. Lost took a more gradual decline so I'm not sure where the turning point was besides the fact that...

Re: Will DCS end up being the final phase?

Depends how you define "released." War Thunder has a bunch of later-era jets in it, but it's not a sim. There's that CAP2 Harrier one which has been in early access for years now with very slow progress. Looks great, apparently flies great, but it's pretty shallow...think if Assetto Corsa was a flig...

Re: Phoenix and AMRAAM Bug

Ah, so ED is going to need to address this for all active radar missiles. Western ones, anyway, I get the feeling the AA-12/R-77 doesn't do this which is why it seems so deadly. Not sure about the SD-10.

Re: New Kneeboard?

I almost never look at the kneeboards due to their limited use for me. Maybe now they will be better...I will check this week.

BSG, B5, GoT, all the ST series up till 2005, all the Stargate series, the Star Wars series (animated and live action since 2008), MST3K, and Monty Python.

There are others I have seen and enjoyed, both on your list and off, but not enough to buy them or watch them more than once.

Re: What was the very first....

Yes, that was also the first one I played. My neighbor 4 houses down had a C64 and we played it there. The first sim I had was FSII for my Atari 800XL. The first PC sim I had was Gunship on my CGA 8086. The first PC sim I actually bought with my own money...I can't recall if I bought F-19 or it was ...

Re: Flight Sign-ups for 11/11/20

Is there that much left to tackle in that one? Having a package is good because we can use the in-game target as a secondary in case we are out of position or the proper loadout to attack the primary. If we only do the in-game one, then once it's gone another can show up just anywhere and be anythin...

Re: A Night of Issues 102820

I guess they don't have smoke "types" modeled in the game, just colors. I'm trying to remember if I've ever had my own missile smoke trail cause me to lose lock. I know I've fired and had the TPOD obscured by it for 30+ seconds because of the angle, but I'm not sure if those occasions were fire-and-...

Re: The top 10 greatest film performances

A lot of the Academy is still made up of old white guys who have an inflated sense of their own importance. I've seen a few anonymous essays from members over the years where they talk candidly about who they voted for and why and which ones were just "sympathy" or "popularity/social" nominees. In o...

Re: The top 10 greatest film performances

LOL, I've only seen #4 on Panzer's list. I do have all of Connery's official Bond films on disc. Not NSNA, that film should not have been made! Inferior in every way to Thunderball. However, I will say that I believe the days of the best acting being on film have been replaced by TV. An actor who ca...

Re: Mars

Remember, that whole thing "stars twinkle, planets don't" is just BS. Twinkling is caused by light being disturbed by the atmosphere. Lights from planets take the same path as stars. The only difference is their relative brightness and size in the sky (although even Mars is only visibly larger than ...

Re: A Night of Issues 102820

Yes, I have been noticing the TPOD gets fouled by smoke regardless of CCD/IRWH/IRBH lately.

I thought the point of IR was to see through smoke! Perhaps it's a bug they will correct at some point. We still need the USN pod for the Hornet as it is. Been using the USAF/USMC one all this time instead...

Re: Ground Strike Package 102820

You need to make the laser Mav SOI to uncage it though, don't you? If you don't uncage, it won't lock on the spot. Do you then go pack to TPOD SOI to fire? I mean you have to have the laser on BEFORE you uncage... Obv if using JTAC/buddy lasing the TPOD is irrelevant, but if self-lasing you need to ...

I still have yet to try any of the campaigns I already have for DCS!

I have bought most of the campaigns for Il-2, though, and while I've finished none of them I have flown parts of 3-4 of them.

Re: Mission over Syria: CAP 102120

The Black Sea uses the least RAM and Syria uses the most of the ones I have. NTTR and PG are in the middle, but the previous record holder was PG at like 80+% RAM used. I don't have the 2 WWII maps, Channel and Normandy, so I can't say about them. However, I find the amount of RAM worrisome as it in...
