Star Trek Online

Post by Softball » 25 Nov 2009, 01:20

Anyone planning on playing Star Trek Online in Feb 2010 (2/2/2010)? I'm leaning toward giving it a trial run. The concept sounds pretty damn nice; you can have your own ship! Lots of ship combat, exploration, missions, ground combat, and diplomacy.

You can read more about it here:

i was tempted, but I just don't see myself playing it ... if there was a way to play it for a month without investing $65, I'd consider it.

I'm waiting for some initial reviews first and I may consider getting it if they have a free trial period.

Looks sexy. If it's not just all eye candy I would play.

Well, the initial investment would be $50. When you buy an online game, you get the first month free. So basically the game is $35 and one month of gameplay $15.

Ah ok. I didnt know about the game including the first month free. I'll get it if most of the reviews are good.

Looks very wow like - instead of armor slots on a character you advance your ship by training your crew and equipping your ship with certain features to make it faster more durable give it better weapons etc. Watch some of the videos on the site... could be fun...

I'm scouring through the FAQs and forums to find out if you can have a group of players on one ship. Kind of a MP COOP style of play.

EDIT: Looks like a no go for players on the same ship. Each player will have their own ship, but they will be able to complete missions together (In space and planet surface away teams).

Q: How will I be able to play with my friends?
A: In space, you can form teams and do missions together. Space battles will occur between multiple player and NPC vessels. When you do a ground mission, the mission owner can build an away team that consists of other players. Outside of combat, there will be numerous community building features, locations, hubs and events that will bring players together.
