Post by VEGETA » 11 Jan 2010, 08:12

So hey I pre ordered this via steam, and I know softball has also pre ordered this game. Anyone else interested in trying this one out. I am very curious as to how a MMO will work with both ships and 3rd person like most MMO's will work. So hey wondering who else is even remotely itnerested

Well, i'm signed up for the open beta. I'm not likely to buy the actual game, but I'm willing to give the beta a chance. If it knocks me over, perhaps i'll order later.

I haven't picked a class or anything yet. What are others choosing? I don't want to just pick the same thing -- won't do to have everyone be a tank, eh?

just got through the tutorial. I am still trying tio get the maps and such down. But so far its kind fo cool, you get a ship and atleast 1 bridge officer at first. I went more offensive class going for a escort style ship meaning lots of armor and firepower. Its just beta now so laer would goand create diffrent characters. But for the ship name of U.S.S Ford PDT_Armataz_01_12

at about 7pm PST they brought the system down for a hr and released a patch. It was buggy before patch, after the patch it was VERY much improved for stibiliaty, conectiviaty and much much much faster and less glitchey loads between areas.

ok so thinking about it and looking at the forums for STO (Star trek online is now STO, so no I am not talking about the car lol), got a few that others noticed

1: auto fire is limited ot one forward and one aft weapon system, needless to say there are more then this and constantly clicking fire all is annoying idea.

2: So far I can only target one ship at a time, so if one in front of me and one behind me the weapons only shoot at the one targeted so if that's the one behind me then my main forward weapons do squat. There is apparently a skill to shoot at everything, but lets face it there should be something like primary target then free weapons shoot at anything in range if they can't shoot at the primary target is a fire at will is set.

3: is 2.5D not 3D as one put it. There is up and down and such but you an't do a back flip, role or such, its left right up and down movment and you can only andle ship so high idea. Makes things easy idea but takes away from the idea space if you are upside down to other ships no one cares. Let me do looops and roles.

Overall very happy with it just room for improvement and these are times others have already complained about and is more tweaking.

space battles are still very fun. In the vulcom sector I am in there are Klingon incersions, so in the sector map you are in you go to a incersions and enter the zone and its just fleets of Klingon ships popping in every so often. So you and whoever else in ther eneed to go fight and trust me if you got just your first ship charging into a group of Klingon battleships with no help leaves you dead fast. But its a great way to just go have fun and such like picking fights in City of heroes, when you get the big fights going by destroying the beacons around the ship.

Sounds cool. I didn't get home from work until 11pm, so I was too tired to sit down and get this installed. I will definitely work on it tonight.

Damn it, I have no desire to create accounts on any of those places giving away beta keys. Most of them I've never even heard of. Hey, I bought CO and played for a month before canceling - that should have earned me an STO beta! Bastids.

And another thing! The STO website won't work with Firefox! What's up with that.

Um what version of fire fox you got as it works perfectlay fine for me with firefox.

Also they just released pricing including a pre purchers price of 240$ lifetime and 120$ a year (reocuring if you want) which is nice. Else its about 15$ a month, 41.97 for 3 and 77.94 for 6 months. So I am very heavily considering getting the yearly or even lifetime.

And Champions online, Tach you already canceled ???? why thought you where enjoying it
