What's the highest level ship you can acquire? sounds like a virtual living can be made or is this just something to do to pass the time? How does it work and is this a virtual society of sorts or just an escape from reality?

Info on ships:

Not sure what you mean by making a virtual living. Our characters receive various forms of currency through the course of their careers - energy credits, starfleet merits, exploration badges, etc. - with which they can upgrade their ships and outfit their crew.

As with all computer games (and various other forms of entertainment), yes, it's just a temporary escape from reality/something to do to pass the time. There is something of a virtual society, consisting of all the players who interact (or not), whether through sharing missions or just chatting in the open zones or forming 'Fleets' (aka Guild, aka Super Group, aka Unit). Pretty much every online game has that. It's not like the way things were in back in the glory days of MW and NBT.

Found out that the turn rates on the Recon and Deep Space science vessels are evidently *backward* in the game and the Recon actually has the better turn rate. 8O

Heh, I chose the Recon - fully expecting it to turn like a cruiser - because I prefer its design to the Deep Space ship. Now I know why it DOESN'T turn like a cruiser.

With the +22 Turn Rate Engineering console, my Star Cruiser turns pretty good for the size ship it is. Combine that with Evasive Maneuvers and it's highly maneuverable.

Decided to give the Exploration Cruiser (faster than a speeding glacier!) another shot today. Did some BO skill tweaking (doubled up on RSP and picked up Science Team II among others), got into a PvP match, and managed to stay alive for more than 5 seconds... 10... 15... 20... OMG... 30... ha ha they can't kill me... 35... 40... d'oh! Well, I'm not sure about the exact time, but the Klingons did eventually ka-plop ye olde U.S.S. Clydesdale.

Still - that thing turns like Kirstie Alley riding a Big Wheel.
