Silent Hunter 3...

Post by Softball » 28 Dec 2004, 13:17

I found a few videos of SH3 and OMG! I will be getting this when it's released. I have uploaded a video that shows what Stromy Weather is like in the game. It is SO amazing!! Check out the video here:

EDIT: Video removed from my server, sorry.

Very nice, the video does seem to be a little 'soft' in the focus, but very enjoyable nonetheless, the effects are awesome if that is in-game footage. But I think I'll stick with DW myself, as I simply prefer the modern era sims. Thanx for sharing though. :)

Anybody (besides Softball - i mean, who are we kidding!) planning on getting this game?

What have we heard about it? Dynamic campaign a la Silent Service (from waaaaay back in the day)?

BiA

Post by Softball » 16 Mar 2005, 18:56

I know this is the wrong forum but...

BiA = 8)

It is very scripted so far, the first few missions tend to walk you through the ins and outs of the game, pausing at certain points with windows that popup explaining how to perform a certain task. I am on the 4th or 5th mission so far, just took out some AAA guns. I swear it's like playing Band of Brothers. The one thing I have to get used to is the aiming/shooting. There are no crosshairs on the screen that show where your rifle points, you HAVE to use the Iron sights to aim and shoot....very realistic IMO. I haven't figured out how to change weapons yet. :roll: When you first hit the ground from the parachute drop, you have lost your pack and weapons on way down. You meet up with a Sgt. and he gives you his .45 to use. Once you make your way through the mission and kill some Germans, you can pick up their crappy single shot rifles, oh joy. I want my M-1 dammit! :x

So, like I said I'm not very far into the game, just the first few missions, but I really like it so far even though it's scripted. The story is fantastic! Maybe, just maybe I'll get SH3 installed. Lol.

P.S. Both SH3 and BiA are on DVD-ROM. So if you don't have a DVD drive and want to play these games, be prepared to get one.
