These were taken by a guy at SIMHQ, I though I would share them here if anyone was interested. Click the SIMHQ link below:

Now I must ask, with Dangerous Waters out and about will there be a new version of destroyer command so the tradition of playing cross platforms will go on between Destroyer command and Silent Hunter???

I've heard nothing about a new DC. My guess is that we won't see it.

I remember this topic being brouht up at the SubSim forums and the answer then was a resounding NO. but if demand is big enought you never know, but SH3 has been built with no duel connex in mind so i doubt it will happen.

not sure how any of us would know how it was actually coded... many things get put into an application that never see the light of day, and with patching anything is possible, it is not a big deal to replace an executable and gui pages...

i doubt we will see it, but i am not sure of the claimed expertise on what it was and was not built with... :?: or are you on the dev team Nem??? actually getting paid to create games and not sharing with us??? you know you would die a horrible death if so! 8O :D

LOL Steel.

No not on a Dev team bud but i have read quite a few threads a year back on the SUB CLUB Forum when i used to play SH2 OL with those guys.Anyway SH3 was still in development and an interview with one of the actual Dev team was placed on the Sub Club site and the possibility of DC2 was asked about and i remember that he stated that they had no plans for DC2 at that time and im sure that he also said SH3 did not have a cross game compatability built into it due to them not having any plans for DC2.

Just going from memory bud so it might not be totally acurate, but i will try and dig up a link to the interview if that is still possible but the SUB CLUB Site has had a major Revamp since that time and all members have had to renew there member ship because of this so the old posts on the Forums and Beta testing reports done for SH3 by the senior members might not be available anymore but i'll see what i can find.

well, to my point an interview with one dev team member does not mean much. i can not really see them taking the code out, that would be silly... they just don't need to activate that branch when compiling...

so there is a pcific mod for sh2? should i look for sh2 when i get sh3?

So, what's the deal with SH3? Is it a complete re-vamp - new graphics engine, new models etc., or is it a just a bit of an upgrade?

New everything as far as i can tell Kodiak. I have SH2 and SH3 goes far and beyond SH2 in graphics, physics, gameplay, etc...

SH3 is an AMAZING AMAZING sim/game. Best naval SIM I have played to date. I highly recommend it. :D

Had a look round for it today while in town. But GAME didn't have it in, so I'll go check PC World when I get the chance, much as I deplore giving them the money they might be asking for it.

Maybe I need to look again, if you found it in your GAME store. And I'll be checking the PC World too. But to be honest, I don't think I can be doing another game! 8)

True . . .true...!! Anyway, GAME in Bracknell have a special offer going on - any 4 PS2, Game Cube, X-Box non-fighting games will get you SH III for only 99p. Looks like Darren's collection of PS2 games is about to be depleted.

Yes my Game store has the same offer unfortunately i have already got rid of all my PS2 games since i haven't played on my PS2 for over a year so i just had to pay full price for it.

So i am now the very happy owner of SH3! Yippee.

Very impressed with the new version and good to see it has still got some of the feel of SH2 but SH3 is a Massive improvement as Softball stated you get even more of a feeling that you are actually in a WW2 German Sub.

Well, my boy has kindly donated four of his X-Box games that he no longer uses, they're old titles so he wouldn't get much for them anyway. And one or two are Canadian titles - they won't notice that until it's too late anyhow, LOL!

Hopefully I will have SH3 by the end of the day. Kerrie has just gone into town to do some shopping and taken those titles with her to swap out. So fingers crossed the local GAME shop here has the same offer as the one in Bracknell. 8)
