Anyone interested in the new Cross of Iron edition? i do not like the pay for planes system they had, and there were lots of complaints about the game when it was first released. but the new edition comes with 8 flyables, quick mission editor, and might be worth a look.

i did some reading at SimHQ forums, found they have released the cross of iron edition for 19.99 digital download on Amazon:

http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/t ... ost3267480

from the features writeup on their web site they have MP coop and adversarial, and a mission creator. sounds a bit like Falcon only in WW1 setting - which i really like.

is anyone else interested in WW1?

Perhaps. Doesn't RoF require you to buy additional planes? How many planes do you get for $20?

EDIT: After further review, I went ahead and picked this up for $20. It's $50 just about everywhere else, so I'll bite for $20.

Guys, I would love to fly some ROF online. Both me and Jedi Master have it. The ROF: Iron Cross Edition comes with 8 flyable planes.

yeah - comes with 8, 9 if you buy from gogamer - but that is pricey.

8 is probably more than enough to start with, and you are not required to buy any more.

It definitely is for me. I have about 12 hours of flight time in the sim and I've only really learned to fly 2 planes well so far.

Let me know when you guys want to fly ROF.

Bought myself the DFW, Pfaltz XII and Sopwith Pup for 12 bucks last night. I may buy a couple more today.

guys, what planes are most used? in the missions you fly? what about simhq or rof games? any ideas? there is a sale right now and I am going to get something, just need to determine std ice edition or deluxe - the big question being are the extra planes in deluxe good to have or use that money for other planes individually?

Can you show the two things you're choosing between? ICE had a pretty good selection for the missions Jedi and Panzer usually put up. There have only been one or two that had none of the planes used in those. I picked up the Sopwith Camel (can be a bitch to fly, not gonna lie), Pup, Dolphin (think on of those might have come with ICE?) since they seem to get a fair amount of use, maybe a couple others, but honestly ICE covers a lot of the missions, anything else is just icing on the cake.

I have not flown RoF on SimHQ but would if I saw anyone doing it. I fly DCS with SimHQ often and they're laid back. No strict comms or anything. They do amp up the settings a bit for realism, no labels, etc, though external views are left on, and all that, so again not ridiculous. A lot of the guys are really knowledgeable about the aircraft too. There are some characters, but no one that is annoying/bad. Everyone is good about trying to accomplish the mission and keeping their calm. I would encourage you guys to fly with them.

ice standard edition and ice deluxe edition.

too late now though, sale is over. I will have just two planes until another sale occurs (often enough with them).

Jedi, Hudson and myself would love to have you join us for some stick time with ROF!
