Can you download and test Surrexen's Syria mission single player to see if your game still crashes? We want to know if it will at all work for you - if not I am not going to spend any time fixing it up.

Maybe you can check his new Persian Gulf mission as well as that would be the next target.

Scarlet Dawn, Syria mission:

Snowfox Escalation, Persian Gulf mission:

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ ... s/3313322/

Also, if you want you can send me your dcs log and I can see if there is anything in there pointing to the issue. It would be in your saved games/dcs open beta/logs folder and is just named dcs.log. unless you have fired up and played DCVS since the other night when you crashed, then it will likely be gone (might be the .old file, depends upon how many times you fired up DCS).

Thanks Hammer for this info. I will test it out tomorrow and will let you know what happens.

I just tried to connect to our server now since it is running Scarlet Dawn and I connected just fine and I was able to select a plane. Go figure! I guess it just wasn't meant for me to fly last Wednesday.

I wonder if that will change when we all log on? Like it's a lag thing?

Good question. I guess we'll find out eventually!

And for extra measure I just tried connecting to the server now with the updated mission and I connected successfully and was able to pick a plane.

well it sucks that you are still crashing. in looking at the log it looks like your dx11backend is running out of memory and crashing the game (hence the questions I asked you). i wonder if you roll back video drivers if it will make a difference?

or do a repair on DCS just for the heck of it.

So in other words he's running out of VRAM?
Perhaps lowering the textures one notch might help? I also don't know what FSAA setting it's at, but backing that down one notch also could help.

Below are the graphics settings for the crashed session:

I also see some perhaps telling things:

2020-12-03 02:15:05.294 WARNING DX11BACKEND: Shader posteffects/slot.fx:DIRECTX11=true;USE_DCS_DEFERRED=1; is outdated as file bazar/shaders/posteffects/slot.fx is modified.

EDTERRAIN4: Texture quality: "max"

2020-12-03 02:21:20.719 INFO EDTERRAINGRAPHICS41: instancer factors has been changed. Update lod buffers.
after this message and the group that belongs to it the DX11BACKEND errors start.

2020-12-03 02:21:29.682 ERROR DX11BACKEND: failed to create structed buffer. Reason: E_OUTOFMEMORY
2020-12-03 02:21:29.682 ERROR DX11BACKEND: CreateShaderResourceView FAILED. Reason: E_INVALIDARG
2020-12-03 02:21:29.683 ERROR DX11BACKEND: failed to create index buffer. Reason: E_OUTOFMEMORY
2020-12-03 02:21:29.684 ERROR DX11BACKEND: failed to create vertex buffer. Reason: E_OUTOFMEMORY

So maybe reduce terrain textures one notch, and do the removal of shaders and textures trick so they get rebuilt (see the sticky I just posted for how to do this). Last chance should be to repair DCS, but might be a good idea to do anyways before removal of the folders trick as well.

FWIW, I also have the slot.fx is modified message but I have not emptied fxo and metashaders2 folders.

Thanks Hammer. I'll try reducing the terrain textures a bit and see what happens.
