Sorry my sound went out guys, but we did it. Even without labels we took down the mission! I hope the APC's stop acting like AAA in one of the upcoming patches so it's more fun like it used to be. :)

I wouldn't mind trying that mission again.

Cool. I replaced the BRDM-2's with MTLB's. You gotta be doing something retarded to get put down by them. I had over 200 on excellent in a tight cluster that I flew over and I had to get below 200 to even get them to fire at me and pretty much under 200 knots to get them to hit me. Should be a little more enjoyable. There are still some Zu-23 guns so you're not completely without fear, but should be less APC sniper BS.

I can't fly tonight, but I'm good for Thursday. I flew the Vetka mission after redoing it and solo'd it. It was not easy (took a few tries) and you need to be careful near the city where the ZU-23's are, and literally took every last rocket, bomb, bean, and bullet to complete it. Even on my successful pass I got scraped up by one of them, but just some minor damage to the wing. They certainly are capable of blowing a wing off though and that is probably what was hitting you guys. Also, many things were set to random or excellent, which in principal I don't have a problem with, but an excellent Zu or APC is a sniper, so I've turned everything down to average.

Ok, see you Thursday. Jedi will be there as well. Thanks for making these missions.

Cool. I'll be on & probably earlier as well. Not sure if Grifter will make it. He gave a not-so-solid maybe.

Thanks for flying last night guys. I had fun. Panzer don't worry about ripping off wings, I did it a lot (really _tons_) until I got a bunch of practice with rockets. It was very frustrating for me too.

I have a few things I do with rockets to make the issue less of an issue for me.
The first is to avoid the urge to shove the nose down at targets - don't gain too much altitude, extend out, come on a shallow dive, make a mess, and pull out.

Second, I also set the rockets to Ripple, Single, 7. You do this by going to the Profile page after selecting rockets, clicking Single (it's abreviated Sng or something) on the right until it says Ripple Single, press 7 and bunch it into the ripple quantity. It's easier for me to fire and be a little more accurate if I just have to pess the button once, rockets are not very powerful so firing several helps with actually killing stuff in fewer passes, and being aggressive with their usage gets me my kills and onto the next step sooner.

Lastly, I also suggest once using them up to ditch the TER's triple ejector racks) for them. You just hit SJET (selective jettison) on the top of the DSMS page, click, I believe it's the right most button until it says rack, select the two store points you had the rockets on - I think they just say 131 when empty, and hit weapon release. With that you can do away with most of your fear of snapping off the wings.

Lastly, on targets, if you have a slider on your HOTAS/stick that you can easily access I suggest setting it up as a zoom - this helps with going wide and narrow when looking for targets, as you can zoom in our out way more than with just Track IR. I often go a little high, level flight, and to a very wide, fish-eye like view when looking around for target tracers, smoke, etc, banking a bit as necessary to see where I want to see. This can work with a very narrow view if you want to look over a small area like a city or whatever.

Even without knowing the instruments super well it can often yield results just looking out the canopy. Once I find the targets and get on the right path I close in the view to normal or tighter to make my attack depending on weapons I intend to use.

Oh, and stupidly we all forgot we had 7 WP rockets last night. Once the Shilka was down we could have dropped a couple WP in the area so you could see where the targets were, although I think there were still BMP's in that group, so getting rockets down there could have gotten our face eaten off, but could have well just marked the top of the hill and said at the bottom near the river or whatever.

Thanks for the tips Hudson! I'll use them from now on when I fly the A-10.
