And Maybe SlamHammer was seen playing out there.. Most everybody likes that guy because we all thought he served in the military. I played with him in GDL under the name of Kahless for over a year with Pain-967 and Tinker. - I was always his wing man. But it never mattered what the plan was or how organized we were – just as soon as we dropped Slam Hammer would walk off and do his own thing regardless of the mission update . After awhile - another MechWarrior followed him out there , and then a few more spoke up - “Hey… what are you guys doing out there? - Come with us and find out - all the while breaking formation and dividing up the group. After awhile - as many as 4 MechWarrior pilots joined with him and his group on their own privet mission and because of that - we mostly lost. 976-Pain would be all upset about it. But what can you do? You can’t slander Slam and get away with it - Ever body liked that guy - He was even offered command of GDL and then turned it down a few times …and so the problem was never solved. After awhile there was no organized group of MechWarrior’s in GDL . Just another bunch of pilots who wanted to play the game and the heck with mission or the teamwork. I left there shortly after we got into Tribes where everybody was trying to capture the flag and I was the only one left defending the base. Before I left - I sent messaged all of them - That GDL HAS no teamwork – it’s all FUBAR - and ever since then I put a target on my back with GDL

Hey that’s cool , he must be in the military reserve officer program , otherwise he could be a full Lieutenant or Captain by now. I bet he seen some combat in his day .

My nephew is serving in the Navy in a SAR helicopter stationed on a surface combat ship . A few times they went CSAR - and he has some stories to tell. Now days he’s a firefighter, but he's still a Navy reserve officer as well serving one week a month.

One time, he said their helicopter touched down to pick up a few military personal at night who were wearing camouflage. During the flight - they kept quiet .. he noticed they didn’t have any military insignias, patches or any dog tags. They were on a covert operation , must have been Delta Force.

I still have this unopened box. I wish I had saved some MW2 and Netmech screenshots.

That brings back some memories. I remember Raptor and Sub Zero always had their own room in Kali95. I would drop by and say hello all the time . And Yes, I was actually the one who took the time and taught Raptor how to lag shoot. He couldn't hit the broadside of a barn back in those days and when it came to lag shooting - he had no idea what I was talking about..... so we dropped and I had to explain it to him - I let him hit my mech several times and blow up my Timber Wolf a dozen times before he got it right. But in the end he was a back stabber – when he and his bunch of rebels came in and took over Clan Wolf that me and Dark Strider were commanding. More like stole it- when they challenged me to a dual for leadership , and during the battle – Raptor was up on the City Building yelling out my position every few seconds. “ He’s over There “ Right Behind You! “ So Even with my ECM turned off I couldn’t sneak up on my opponent and get a good shot in thanks to Raptor. So he was a cheater and a backstabber which is why I never brought it up before now.. What a prick he turned out to be.

The best of times:

I actually dropped with Sun Tzu one time and he smoked every Mech on the Battlefield. This guy was an ACE Pilot all the way - and it was an honor to play with him.

Anyway that’s a nice collectable. I wonder if it might be worth something someday. I see an open item - Mech Warrior 2 The Titanium Trilogy PC on eBay for $30. Tempting... I haven’t played in MW2 since forever , and I remember a good single player campaign but mostly the music got me in the rhythm..

Screw It! I just went ahead and bought it. Comes with MechWarrior 2 , MechWarrior Ghost Bear Expansion pack , and MechWarrior Mercenaries - (which I forgot all about.) Now I will need a flight stick to play it. Hah!

Too bad it’s only single player. You should get a VKB gladiator NXT if you can afford it. Widely regarded as a great budget stick. Alternatively you can get a Thrustmaster T16000, but you’ll need to grease it. Even though it’s single player, I’m tempted to buy it. I spent countless hours playing MW Mercenaries and ghostbear. Loved Mercenaries.

i agree. with no MP I am not really that interested. There is MWO, but it is quite different than the MW we used to play.

I had no idea anyone else in here would be even slightly interested in this old game , but it’s nice to know! We use to have a file sharing link here in RLG about 10 years ago on the old server. . ( I think ) If you could find someone who can send you the ISO file - then you could just burn your own CD. But keep it on the down low , and don’t tell Steal Hammer Man about that. :)

I ordered a cheaper ThrustMaster T-Flight Stick, It should get here this week - as long as the pitch yaw has an easy feel , and it glides well - then it’s a keeper. I always used my keyboard to adjust the Mechs speed and set the firing solution.

Is MWO still active?

I found a link that said By early 2020, MechWarrior Online had reached its lowest point. ... Although the servers remained online, few players meant extra-long wait times for MechWarrior Online's matches to start, and so PGI declared official updates for the game would end in January of 2020.
