So figured update a little. Last time I posted Wife and I had the 597 HB and a SKS. Nothing changed there, SKS still stock and 597 same as it was modded before.
Since then we got some new toys
first up was a Hatsan Escort WS shotgun. Turkish and good reputation, and can be had here for some good prices. So for a first shotgun seamed like a good starting point considering it came stock with 5 chokes for it. We have done some trap and such with it and plan on a hunting license maybe this summer. Wild turkeys in my area ans goose. Like the gun, feels solid and such so happy with that toy.

Next is another shotgun, this one for pure fun sake. A Hatsan Escort MP tactical shotgun on green. It feels good, and just a fun toy. Tried some trap and slugs with it. Found out the threads on the outside for the flash hider are the same as that Saiga-12 shotgun. So looking to get the choke adapter that is available for the Saiga-12. Of course since the Saiga-12 is a ak variant its prohibited here by name alone. so need to sorce that in the us. but once i get that and maybe add on a 4x shotgun scope i have (was on a 22 at one point) I may use this for dear hunting. To hunt in southern Ontario its shotgun, black pouder and bow only. Got to go a good ways to get into hunting with rifles. anyway we will see.

Next wife wanted to go James bond. PPK being prohibited here (barrel length under 4.1 inches). We are waiting for a 380 version to come up for sale second hand (cant bring new ones in) and have it re barreled to 4.1 so we can own it. IE we can get prohibited license unless we had parents who had it grandfathered to them back in the early 90's. sucks to have the longer barrel but it will let us have it and save it from the smelter as people with prohibited getting fewer and fewer.
but hey James bond used a p99 i some movies, which is no longer made but its replacement is the ppq. Wife fell in love with it so first handgun in the house goes to the wife. We got our hands on a second hand one that by the looks of it shot a few rounds and that's it. We got the m1 version with paddle mag release. The m2 is the same except it used the more common button mag release. Wife being left handed and myself right, the paddle made the gun fully ambidextrous which is great. Not shot it yet, any week now we will have the paperwork to be allowed to bring it to the range. Being a restricted toy, you need paperwork to be allowed to transport it. Yep Canadian law is silly but at least we can have ar15's under 16 inch barrel here lol.

Speaking of AR's that the newest toy we are adding to the list. And man did we go all out, opting to get a Canadian toy. Our m16 version for military is called a C7 and the m4 equivalent is a C8. Well being Canada, when we looked to replace the FN-FAL, we liked the m16/m4 but decided it needed to be better. The result is the C7/C8 rifles. The Canadian company Diemaco produced the new rifles to a extreme standard. These things are top of the line and even used by many special forces around the world.
the name Diemaco fell to the side as Colt bought the company and made Colt Canada or something along those lines. in rither case they never sold to the public EVER and its still a military/police force maker to this day. But they have opened to the public in 2014. From this we got the SA20 (C7) and sa15.7 (c8) rifles. Besides being semi auto they are the military rifle. The produced 500 of each for 30th anniversary and that's it. they even dusted off the diemaco name for them. Now colt Canada is producing new toys, specifically they have released a iur upper in 15.7 inch off leftovers of a Denmark order I believe (have to look that oen up). there should be more available but looks like it will be leftovers off production runs or when a order form some contrary comes in they will produce extras for civilian market. they will not tool up for just civilian only orders as they are not the market they are in. but hey to be able to get a colt Canada rifle in any forum is a great thing
wife and I wanted one of these since they where released but at 2K its a bit of coin, and it hurt to watch numbers dwindled down to almost nothing. Found a few places with stock remaining (one and 2 here and there) and we happened into a little extra cash. So weekend we said screw it we are buying. Lucky us checked the forums and one of the stores I was looking at had a 12% off sale on all restricted firearms including this bad boy. BUY BUY BUY. So cant wait to get it and shoot this sucker. High quality toy with lifetime warranty, the maker of which being a hr drive form my house is cool. and then tack on the history of this one ad the fact its Canadian is a great thing.
Note suggest reading the Caliber mag article i attached, some nice info as well for people who enjoy this kind of thing.
