Strike Nuclear Facility CAP 052621

Post by Xpendable »

We finally hit some of the targets at the nuclear facility! Thanks for helping keep the enemy fighters occupied!

Also thanks to Hammer for the recon Intel and setting up the target points for the JDAM strike.

I did 2 Harrier sorties. The first was with 4x1000 lb bombs, and the second was with 10x500 lb bombs. Unfortunately, all the 1000 lb bombs missed, but it was my fault. I mistakenly thought I had put on 1000 lb JDAMs but I had actually put on 1000 lb laser guided GBU-16's. Oops. Which of course explains why I didn't have the right HUD symbology. I had the TPOD on but wasn't firing the laser (I still hadn't realized my mistake) and dropped them from 27,000 feet in CCRP mode. Since the laser was not on, they dropped stupid. No surprise that they missed.

Second time around I loaded actual JDAM's (GBU-38's) so things went a lot better. I auto dropped again from 27,000 feet, 1 bomb on each of the 4 pre-planned targets. I then made a second pass and dropped the remaining 6 all on target T2, which was believed to be the reactor. The people in that building had a very, very bad day.

Egressing southwest, I was being pursued by some Mig 29's - fortunately there were some friend assets in the air and they were able to take them down. Thanks guys!

Sadly, I don't have any video because I didn't set up any streaming.

Glad you had a good time Xpen. It sounds like you've really got a handle on things and are functioning well in these hops!

Hey if you ever want to fly a hop sometime outside of Wed and Mon nights, let me know. I think you have my email. I can probably do mornings too.

We did indeed get some of that facility. I did a DBA sortie at the end of the evening and got some recon photos - got shot up for it too but made it home. As soon as I get a chance I will post the photos.

Thanks for the recon. Seems like we can call that target destroyed?

one of the four primary targets was hit. if you do mean that we accomplished 25% of the mission, then yes. :D
