DCS Wednesday 08.06.25

Post by Bones »

Hello all,

Last night Panzermeyer and Jedi helped me test Foothold Sinai with my computer hosting the mission.

It seemed to work fine. No one flying backwards, rubber banding, etc. The points accumulated, redeemed, and saved properly. Granted there were only 3 of us, and only some ZU-23s shooting at me, but it seemed to work.

So tonight we will fly Foothold Sinai with me hosting. If it works out, we may do it that way through the end of the campaign. Afterwards, there is a Foothold Kola and Foothold Germany we can try on the RLG server again since it seems like the problem is only with the graphic intense Sinai ATM.

Let me know asap if the next foothold will be Kola or Germany because I don’t own either map.

I would say Kola between the two of them. I have Foothold on hand for that one (I have to still acquire Foothold Germany), plus have been flying it and it was working out fine.

All,

We flew the mission yesterday with my machine as host. Myself, Panzer, Jedi, and Wingy.

There didn't appear to be any issues with lag or rubberbanding or anything else. The points system worked and the status saved. We took 2 enemy positions. There is a third (Sam Foxtrot or Echo) that is on the verge of collapse.

So for Foothold Sinai, it looks as if maybe it is too intense for the RLG server but fine on newer machines. I will continue to host from my machine, but in the event that I cannot one night, someone else can. I can show you what to do to get your machine to work and then send the save files.

After Sinai, we can do Foothold Kola on the RLG server because it doesn't seem as graphically intense as Sinai does. There is Foothold Germany, but with the size of just the prelim map and the graphic detail on it, I'm not even sure if one of us can host it yet.

I saw there is also a Foothold Iraq available now. That might be interesting. There may be one for Afghanistan, but I might be confusing that with Through the Inferno.

So we have possibilities for future campaigns.

Thanks for hosting last night bones. I also don’t have the Iraq or Afghanistan maps so if our next foothold campaign will be in either of those theaters please let me know.
